In what city do you currently reside?

Lakewood, Colorado

What do you love the most about where you live?

Denver is big city meets mountain wilderness.  How can it get any better than that?! I love that the Rocky Mountains are at my doorstep.  I can lose myself in the peaceful zen of a mountain hike, visit the ghosts of an old time mining camp, or take off to the simple life of the eastern plains.  All this, within 30-60 minutes from my front porch.  Wow.  What’s not to love?

In what other cities have you lived?

Sterling, Colorado; Denver, Colorado, Golden, Colorado, Dallas, Texas

What is/was your favorite city and why?

Estes Park, Colorado is quiet, calm, peaceful, picturesque, and occasionally a bit touristy.  We honeymooned there 14 years ago and it holds a very special place in my heart year round.  Summer lends itself to taking long hikes on the back trails.  Fall provides romance, autumn colors, bugling elk, breathtaking sights and smells all around, and the beginning of the snowy season.  Winter is full of ice & snow when you hunker down and read books by the fire while drinking cocoa or toddys with loved ones.  Spring is for the flowers and the reawakening of all that is beautiful and new.

What do you hope to gain from NOLAbound?

I would love to learn more about New Orleans herself, the side we don’t see when we come to visit the French Quarter or Garden District on vacation.  I adore the city, it is my mosted loved destination for vacation outside of Colorado.  What I know most is the historical and touristy stuff.  I’d love to get to know the side of New Orleans the locals know, the stuff a tourist might miss no matter how often one comes for a visit.

What is your overall opinion of New Orleans?

I love the city of New Orleans.  Ever since visiting for the first time two years ago I have not been able to get her out of my mind!  I love the sights, the food, the people (the people are amazing!), and the rich history the area has to offer.  It really is like visiting an old friend when you come to stay in New Orleans.

Single most important issue facing New Orleans?

In my mind I think it would have to be the balancing act between staying true to the historic and cultural foundations of the city and the people who live there while moving forward and making strides industrially, environmentally, technologically, and business wise.
